The Importance of Reading
From the time my daughter was born, her dad and I read to her every day. Some people don’t understand the importance of introducing books to infants. As a teacher, I can tell you, not only does it help you bond with one another, print awareness is imperative to language. Whether you realize it or not, you are helping build the foundations of language and reading in your young child when you read to them. Young children also love repetition! They will recognize the book and get excited to read it! My daughter is year old and she loves to sit down and read with us, as well as look at the books herself. She can turn pages and gets excited about reading time! Just a tip: I like to rotate books out about every other month to keep it interesting. I also try to get a new book each month. Keep some familiar books with some new ones and it will definitely keep them engaged! Here is a list of ten of our favorite books we like to read together!
